Position Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Director of Professional Standards to join our team in Ontario, Canada. This position can be hybrid, based out of our Waterloo office or our Toronto office. 

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and oversight of the firm’s professional standards program including the management of professional indemnity claims made against the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain professional standards policies and documents
  • Collaborate with management team to drive compliance with professional standards
  • Manage professional indemnity claims made against the organization
  • Report claims activity and outcomes to risk management and insurance team
  • Oversee robust privacy and compliance management program

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, law, business or a related field.
  • 10 years of loss adjusting and litigation management with direct experience with professional indemnity (E&O) claims.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Expert level knowledge of claims management including loss adjusting, mediation and litigation management experience. Strong analytical and communication skills with a collaborative approach to problem solving.   
  • Frequent internal and external communications at all levels of the organization. Internal communication is with front line claims adjusters, managers and executive leaders. External communication is with key clients, claimants, first and third party counsel. Decision making involves establishing financial reserves and recommending strategies to resolve claims.
  • Adjuster licensing preferred
  • CIP, FCIP or CRM designation required
